Tzatziki AKA Mast-o-Khiar (v)

This is a popular Greco-Persian side dish which is great with grilled dishes, especially lamb and chicken. To be honest, nobody is sure about the origin of this recipe as far as I know, so you can call it what you like. The only difference between the two Greek and Persian versions is that the Greeks use minced raw garlic in theirs and Persians use mint instead. I like both so I use them both. You can choose what you prefer.

Serves 6-8 (as a side)

Ingredients

  • 500g yogurt
  • 6 baby cucumbers, finely diced (or half a typical large English cucumber)
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed with a crusher or finely minced with knife (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried mint (or 2 tbsp of fresh mint, finely chopped)
  • Salt & Pepper

Method

Mix all the ingredients together.

Enjoy! 🙂
